Moong Daal Idli

Ingredients:

1 cup moong dal (split green gram)

3 tbsp grated carrot

3 tbsp grated cabbage

1 tbsp ginger-green chilli paste

2 tspbesan (Bengal gram flour)

2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

1 tspEno

salt to taste

Makes about 8 Idlis

Other ingredients

1/2 tsp oil for greasing

For serving

4 tbsp corriender Chutney

Method

1. Roast the moong dal in a non-stick pan till all the raw smell disappears. Cool and soak in water overnight.

2. Next day, drain and discard the water. Grind the dal in a mixer to a thick paste using little water if required.

3. Add the carrots, cabbage, ginger-green chilli paste, besan, coriander and salt and mix well.

4. Sprinkle the eno on it and then add few drops of water.

5. When the bubbles form, mix gently.

6. Pour the mixture gently into greased idli moulds and steam in a steamer for 10 to 12 minutes till they are done.

7. Serve hot with healthy chutney.
